FRANCES PRIZZIA'S STATEMENT ON THE BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT

Frances Prizzia is on The Board of Directors of Filipino-American Lawyers of Orange County and is proud to stand by her statement that she has written below. The Law Offices of Frances Prizzia is aligned with the views of the Black Lives Matter movement and encourage our readers to take a moment to read our beliefs.

Important Message from the FLOC Board of Directors:

We, as advocates for justice, stand against racism, inequality, and hate. As Filipinos, we acknowledge and are grateful for the path that was paved before us by the civil rights movement and the changes in policies and law from which we directly benefited. Our core values are built on diversity and inclusion, and we will continue to advocate on behalf of those whose voices need to be heard. We stand in solidarity with our black brothers and sisters to mourn the unnecessary and heartbreaking deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Sean Reed, George Floyd and the countless other black lives who were murdered based on the color of their skin.

We take a stance against police brutality and excessive force. We support peaceful protests and individuals exercising their sacred constitutional right to rally against what they feel is unjust. We call for swift changes in police practices in order to start building trust with the community they are charged to serve and protect. We recognize the reality that people of color - and especially African Americans - often do not enjoy the same justice system that others take for granted.
